President Abinader’s recent visit to the La Vigia canal, which is undergoing restoration by the Dominican government, highlighted the importance of redirecting water from the Masacre River away from Haitian territory, especially in response to Haiti’s initiative to build a canal on their side of the border.

Manuel Escaño, representing the National Association of Egg Producers (Asohuevos), expressed his appreciation for President Abinader’s well-timed decision, stressing its potential to restore peace and confidence among traders who have anxiously awaited this move.
